With more than 3 million subscriber lines have been installed worldwide, the ULC-1000AN systems are widely used in many public and private networks. The OPNET ULC-1000AN MSAN access platform's modular design provides customers with an easy path to upgrade their embedded copper plant to the future IP-based next generation network.
The ULC-1000AN MSAN provides a clear migration path from traditional services like voice to its flexible network uplink options, including support for both TDM and VoIP soft-switches. The ULC-1000AN architecture is scalable, ranging in size from 6 to 2000 lines per system and can be readily deployed into synchronous digital hierachical (SDH) ring or IP-based Metro-Ethernet infrastructures. Broadband data services using digital subscriber line (ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+/G.SHDSL) technologies or Ethernet interfaces along with all traditional TDM srevices can be delivered from a single platform.

E1 interface
|
| |
The ULC-1000AN provides two types of E1 modules to implement E1 transmission interface. The E1X-XCVR has one E1 interface and the E1TX-XCVR module provides up to three E1 interfaces
|
| |
|
|
|
G.shdsl interface
|
| |
For area not covered by optical fiber or E1 trunk lines, the E1GS-XCVR module can provide the high-bit-rate digital subscriber line connection between CO and Remote sites by using one or two pairs copper wires.

ETH-XCVR ( New Product )
|
| |
The Ethernet Transceiver Unit (ETH-XCVR) interfaces to a 10/100 Base-T electrical Ethernet port, transmitting and receiving voice and data originating from channel units in the subscriber slots of the ULC-1000AN system, as well as other types of transceiver unit. The throughput of ETH-XCVR is configurable from 3 Mbps to 43 Mbps, depends on TDM timeslot bandwidth required. The TDM bandwidth could be 30, 60, 90 to 660 DS0 timeslots; it’s adjustable and configured in step of 30 timeslots.

ATMU-GE module
The ULC-1000AN ATMU-GE module represents a high-bandwidth, cost-effective network interface for packet based networks. The ATMU-GE is a single slot module with two gigabit Ethernet ports to support high speed internet services, voice over IP (VoIP) and IP television (IPTV) applications.
In order to facilitate migration to IPTV, the gigabit Ethernet module also contains hardware support for Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). With IGMP proxy support, the ULC-1000AN determines which video streams (in terms of multicast IP addresses) to deliver to which subscribers.
To maximize network efficiency, the ATMU-GE module supports link aggregation. Link aggregation not only provides a 2Gbps pipe when needed but also provides increase resiliency if the second port experiences a failure. In addition, the ATMU-GE supports up to 4094 VLANs.
GE-SW module
The ULC-1000AN GE-SW module functions as a Gigabit Ethernet switch. There are up to eight 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interfaces in the module, and two of them can be configured as Gigabit Ethernet optical interfaces.
